Bigg Boss 11 winner Shilpa Shinde: Here’s everything you want to know about her

After three months of non-stop drama, the Bigg Boss 11 winner has been announced and it is none other than Shilpa Shinde. Shilpa, who entered the house as a celebrity contestant, defeated popular actor Hina Khan, but it was announced by twitter hours ago.

While every year there is a clear fan favourite, Shilpa’s popularity is something else. In fact, ‘Shilpa Shinde For The Win,’ has been a top trend on Sunday, hours before Salman Khan-hosted show even started its telecast. As Bigg Boss began, the tweets and fan frenzy also increased. While Bigg Boss 11 grand finale began with Shilpa Shinde, Hina Khan, Vikas Gupta and Puneesh Sharma – others fell along the way, leaving only Shilpa and Hina on the stage.

The popular TV actress took the trophy home from the grand finale of Bigg Boss 11. Not just the trophy, Shilpa’s winning basket also includes prize money of Rs. 44 lakhs and dher sara pyaar from her fans. While Shilpa was the star of the night, a considerable amount of limelight was also on Hina Khan, who was in the list of top two contestants. Puneesh Sharma was the first to get evicted from the show after his parents entered the house to escort him out as the Delhi boy received the least number of votes. Soon after his elimination, actor Akshay Kumar revealed that Vikas Gupta is the second runner up of the Bigg Boss season 11.

With her cooking skills and friendly nature, Shilpa managed to win several hearts inside as well as outside the house. Initially, everyone tried to corner Shilpa by nominating her in the very first week of the show. However, she didn’t let that affect her and went on to become friends with commoner Akash Dadlani and Arshi Khan.

It is not unknown that Bigg Boss always has a trick up its sleeves. And the last twist of this season was that voting lines were made live for 10 minute during the episode before the winner was announced, which gave fans of Hina and Shilpa a chance to shower more votes in favour of their favourite contestants.

Ahead of the winning announcement, Salman Khan met the contestants through the live TV inside the house, when Shilpa Shinde was asked about how she managed to garner such a massive fan following. Shilpa, who turned out to be almost everyone’s favourite Bigg Boss 11 contestant, said she had no strategy for the show but only to just be herself, which she thinks worked in her favour.

Her history with inmate Vikas Gupta helped her grab eyeballs on the show. For the uninitiated, Vikas was the programming head of &TV when Shilpa was active on Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain. The two reportedly had a huge fight after the she left the show in March. Soon the two mended their differences with a hug and decided to work with each other after the show.

Shilpa started her career almost 18 years ago on Indian TV. A negative role in Bhabhi brought her into spotlight an she followed it up with a role in Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai. It was the medical soap Sanjeevani and Amrapali that cemented her position in the industry.

While she has a long and interesting career graph — Meher in DD National’s popular show Meher – Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki, Star Plus’ Hatim, Zee TV;s Rabba Ishq Na Hove and Betiyaan Apni Yaa Paraaya Dhan, her breakthrough role was Chidiya Ghar.

She followed the show with Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain where she played Angoori Bhabi. Ostensibly her most popular role till date, it also got her a lot on negative publicity when she walked off the show after a year alleging that the makers “mentally tortured” her. She later accused producer, Sanjay Kohli, of sexual harassment and his wife, Benaifer Kohli, of threats. Vikas, the programming head of &TV, said Shilpa threw her weight around on the show. He was said to be instrumental in her ouster from Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai.

Many, many congratulations to Shilpa Shinde on her bigg win.
